Imagining a different future
Quintosapore and Candiani Denim partnered to explore the intersection of regenerative farming, soil health, circular fashion, and food.
For the first time ever, we have grown tomatoes in soil using composted COREVA® Denim offcuts. These tomatoes have been used to create a delicious tomato sauce that was served at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards dinner in Los Angeles during Oscars week.
The project started with a question: ‘Can COREVA ® denim be used to grow edible crops?’ Third-party testing throughout the process has proven that the answer is ‘Yes’!
This is the starting point to explore if fashion and agriculture can be connected outside of the typical linear model and demonstrates that fashion waste doesn't have to harm the environment and can even be used to grow our food.
As illustrated in a recent article in Forbes, healthy soil is critical for creating a liveable future and saving our soil should be on every CEO's agenda in 2024 and beyond. This project aims to raise awareness of the importance of healthy soil and advocates for soil-friendly practices in fashion and farming.
